Playoffs again after 8 years!

Eight long years.

I have had 2 children and on my third vehicle in that time.

Now to break the 45 year drought....

They are actually going to make the playoffs for the first time in a billion years. I am actually amazed they are actually half way decent......

Credit where credit is due, the boys skated hard tonight and really showed some good old fashioned hustle and discipline.

Leaf nation will be all googly eyed as it doesn't take much to light the flames of hope, however short lived it may be.

Commentators are either calling for a playoff spot or last place, but it is 20 games too soon to be thinking about that.

Kostka, Kadri and Scrivens

Kostka, Kadri and Scrivens show up to play the way they did last night for the rest of the season and maybe there is something positive to talk about around here for the first time in years.

Burke is gone. There was days of speculation as to why, and my guess is this is how it went.

Owners:  "Look Burke, we just paid a Billion dollars for this operation, you work for us, and we want to make some changes"

Burke: "Nobody tells me what to do, I am Brian Burke, I run this show"

Owners: "We need to maximize our revenue stream from this investment, we really don't care what you think as long as you do what we say and we fill our pockets full of money"

Burke: "Go pound salt you blockheads, you don't know hockey"

Owners: "Hockey smockey, who cares? Its about the money Burke, the money"

Burke: "So, you want me to lay down and be a good little boy, put up, shut up, and do exactly what I am told to do? Jump when you say jump?"

Owners: "Now your getting it!"

That is fiction out of my head, but that is the way I envision the conversation going. Two sides trying to pull different directions never works. Truthfully Bruke was less then what might be considered successful during his four years in Toronto, and I think he would tell you that himself. Was there enough success to give him another two years? I don't see this advisor to the ownership role lasting too long, I think its just a ploy to keep him tied up under contract. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer?
