Well maybe its time to start paying attention a little since it is nearly Christmas, but honestly I have been busy and with a half a eye of the season.

Lets look at the record 33 games in. 16-14-3 for 35 points is just over a point a game which projects to 87 points in 82 games, and is at least 5 short of the last playoff berth in my estimate.

I think you have to aim for 95 points, which would be 38 points after 33 games, only 3 points difference but if the deficit keeps building then it gets harder and harder to catch up. Sound familiar?

This is exactly why the Leafs are perpetually in a "Race for the Playoffs".

Sundin from Roberts and Mogilny !!!

The last playoff goal scored for the Toronto Maple Leafs was on May 4 2004, at 15:08 of the third period by Mats Sundin, assisted by Gary Roberts and Alexander Mogilny.

Playoffs again after 8 years!

Eight long years.

I have had 2 children and on my third vehicle in that time.

Now to break the 45 year drought....

They are actually going to make the playoffs for the first time in a billion years. I am actually amazed they are actually half way decent......

9-6 and looking decent

I am liking the shortened season, making for better hockey, can we do this all the time?

5-2 Over Penguins

Credit where credit is due, the boys skated hard tonight and really showed some good old fashioned hustle and discipline.

Leaf nation will be all googly eyed as it doesn't take much to light the flames of hope, however short lived it may be.

Commentators are either calling for a playoff spot or last place, but it is 20 games too soon to be thinking about that.
